Bowmanstown discusses hiring additional worker

Whether or not Bowmanstown can afford to hire an additional worker remains to be seen.

Borough council revisited the matter on Tuesday several months after it originally discussed its payroll status to see if it could hire additional personnel.

Councilman Rob Moyer said that council previously had a discussion about a good worker and trying to cover overage with part-time or full-time help.

Councilwoman Kara Scott said she wasn’t sure what approach to take if the borough can’t figure out how to better pay its employees now.

“If we can avoid a new hire, it makes sense to me,” Scott said.

Moyer said that when weighing things out, the biggest drawback comes down to affording another person.

Scott said she thinks having another employee is ideal, provided the borough can afford it.

At its workshop in April, Moyer suggested hiring one regular worker and getting seasonal help, whereas Thomas suggested that the borough really needs two additional people.
