Nesquehoning Boy Scout to construct memorial benches

A Nesquehoning Boy Scout is teaming up with the borough recreation commission to create a bench donation program in honor of loved ones who called Nesquehoning their home.

Councilwoman Lois Kuba announced that the commission and Angelo Greek are working together as part of Greek’s Eagle Scout project.

Greek will construct the benches, which will then be placed at various locations throughout the borough.

The community bench is a “unique and meaningful way to honor and remember friends and loved ones, promote your business, recognize a civic group and commemorate a special event.”

Each bench will have a plaque with the name of the person, family or group that sponsored the bench. The cost for a bench is $225 and the deadline to order one is June 23 or until 25 benches are ordered.

For more information, call Greek at 570-249-0490; Kuba at 570-249-0364 or Samantha Zlock at 570-926-1117.

Checks should be made payable to Nesquehoning Recreation Commission and mailed or dropped off at the borough hall, 114 W. Catawissa St. Included with the check should be your name, contact information and what you would like on the inscription.
