Local roundup: Results from June 5

The Birches received a strong pitching performance from Ben Mostosky in a win over Nazareth on Monday.

Elsewhere, Berlinsville cruised to a victory over the Orioles in Blue Mountain League action.

Nazareth-Birches

Ben Mostosky was solid on the mound, leading the Birches to a 4-2 NorCo victory over Nazareth.

Mostosky tossed all seven innings, scattering five hits and walking one while striking out seven.

John Smale reached base three times for the winners on a single and two walks, stole a base and also scored twice. Nathan Loch added a hit, while Ryan Kymer delivered an RBI.

For Nazareth, Preston Warne had two hits.

The Birches are the defending NorCo champions.

North Parkland-Carbon Monarchs

Tyler McNicholas knocked in four runs to power North Parkland to a 14-3 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over the Carbon Monarchs.

McNicholas finished with two hits, one a triple, and a run for the winners, who opened the game with a four-run first inning.

North Parkland also received two hits and two RBIs from Andrew Beers, while Gavin Morey collected a pair of hits and scored twice.

For the Monarchs, Aiden Rarick had two hits, scored twice and stole three bases. Garrett Lienhard contributed two hits, a run and an RBI.

The loss dropped Carbon to 2-1.

Berlinsville-Orioles

A big day at the plate from Pleasant Valley graduate Brandon Ratti propelled the Berlinsville Braves to a 15-3 Blue Mountain League victory over the league-leading Orioles.

Ratti finished 4-for-4, including a solo homer, scored four runs and knocked in two.

Jim Thorpe product Noah Snisky also contributed to the offensive output with a pair of hits and a run.

The Braves, now 3-5, received a pair of homers from Rommel Perez, while Austin Mueller also went deep. Perez knocked in five runs, and Mueller drove in four.

Cole Coolbaugh tossed all five innings, striking out nine, to earn the win.

The loss dropped the first-place Orioles to 6-2.

Berlinsville-Roseto

In a game from last Friday, Berlinsville handed the Roseto Bandits a 7-3 Blue Mountain League loss.

Shane Fillman, Rommel Perez and Luke Spence all had two hits for the Braves. Perez knocked in three runs, while Spence drove home two.

The winners also received a hit and an RBI from Northern Lehigh graduate Cody Krupa. Jim Thorpe grad Noah Snisky added a hit and a walk.

Jeff Higgins went all seven innings on the mound, striking out three, for the win.
