The name of the former Horsehead Community Development Fund has been legally changed.
James A. Wimmer Esq., chairman of the Horsehead Community Development Fund Inc., said the name of the fund has been legally changed to BEFESA Community Fund.
“Befesa Zinc US Inc., owner and operator of the former Horsehead plant in Palmerton, has made a financial commitment to the fund so that the fund can continue its mission to provide financial grants to beneficiaries located in the Palmerton, Northern Lehigh, and Lehighton School Districts and surrounding areas,” Wimmer said.
The BEFESA Community Fund provides moneys to libraries, recreational sports and athletic leagues, community service groups, volunteer fire companies, and groups that provide services to children and senior citizens.
“The officers and board of the Fund truly appreciate the commitment of Befesa in helping to better the lives of the residents in our area.”
Since 1990 when the fund was organized, Horsehead Community Development Fund has awarded more than $3.36 million dollars to local organizations, clubs and programs.
