The Palmerton Borough Council tapped a 29-year-old accountant from an Allentown newspaper as its newest member last night.

Erik Peters of Lafayette Avenue was one of four applicants for the position vacated last month by Frank Tergo. He was approved by a 6-0 vote of the council.

Peters, a senior accountant for The Morning Call, will head up the Buildings, Recreation and Parks committees in his new position.

He concurrently resigned from his seat on the borough’s zoning hearing board.
