Residents along North Street on the east side of Jim Thorpe are proposing creation of a truck runoff at a point somewhere along the three-mile descent along Route 903 between Kattner’s Tavern in Penn Forest Township and the approach to the county-seat borough.

This came again yesterday in the aftermath of a spectacular five-vehicle crash precipitated by a 20-ton truck which apparently lost its braking power while descending the hill.

While the property damage was substantial, there were no injuries to any of the drivers, particularly the 42-year-old Pittsburgh salesman who miraculously escaped death, crawling from his totally-destroyed car without as much as a scratch.
