Nesquehoning Borough plans to update website, hire borough manager

Nesquehoning is beginning the process of updating its borough website after its sole employee, who managed the site, resigned.

On Wednesday, the borough approved moving forward with the redesign with a cap not to exceed $4,385.

Councilwoman Fran Heaney said that the goal is to make the website more user-friendly, and include forms that residents can print out rather than having to come to the borough to obtain.

Councilman Bruce Nalesnik, who has taken the lead on the project, said that he received a quote from Enter.net for a redesign and said that it also includes first year support.

Councilwoman Abbie Guardiani said that she feels the borough has to start this project, because the website, as it is now, is not functional.

Nalesnik added that right now, “we have no website support.”

Former Borough Secretary RoniSue Ahner had maintained the website, but resigned earlier this month to take a new job in another municipality.

Council is now advertising for a borough manager.

In a related matter, council voted to approve Ahner’s resignation. Councilwoman Mary Fox voted against accepting it, because she felt the borough needs Ahner’s knowledge and organization.
