State police at the Lehighton barracks were summoned at 10:35 p.m. May 11 for a report of a pistol found on the side of a road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said a 9 mm pistol, as well as a 9 mm magazine and 9 mm cartridges, were found off Route 903.

They said the owner of the firearm has been identified, but police have not been able to make contact with that person.
