Joseph Nester of 400 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, has been appointed to a position in the Carbon County Planning Commission in the county seat, according to Agnes T. McCartney, deputy director of the Schuylkill-Carbon Agency on Manpower.

Nester has been serving as the recreation coordinator at the Y.M.C.A., Jim Thorpe, where he directed a highly-successful recreation program.

In his new position, he will work a 30-hour week schedule in the office headed by Thomas J. Shaughnessy and will be in charge of the commission’s participation in the Lehigh Canal Restoration Project.
