May 23, 2002 - Annie Parliman pitches a one-hitter and Becky Van Zee delivers the game’s biggest hit as Lehighton edges Northern Lehigh 3-1 in the quarterfinal round of the District 11 Class 2A playoffs. Parliman walks three and strikes out nine, and gets out of a jam in the fifth inning to preserve the victory. Two walks and the Bulldogs only hit from Amberly Gable loads the bases in the fifth, but a pop-up in the infield results in a double play when the runner on third fails to hear the umpire call the infield fly rule and gets thrown out at home. Van Zee drills a two-run triple in the home first, and comes home on an errant throw to provide the only scoring by the Indians.
