A man and a woman are dead Sunday afternoon after a violent crash in Towamensing Township, according to Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. along Forest Inn Road just south of the intersection with Gun Club Road, near the line between Towamensing and Lower Towamensing Township.

The incident involved a car and a motorcycle.

Miller said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was transported to St. Luke’s Carbon, where she died.

State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident. Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway.
