Lansford woman flees crash scene

Amber B. Berger, 21, of Lansford, was cited by state police at the Lehighton barracks with failure to provide immediate notice of an accident to police after a one-vehicle crash at 8 p.m. May 9 on Sunny Rest Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said she was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima southbound when a deer ran out onto the roadway. She swerved the vehicle to avoid striking the deer and in the process the car veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree head-on.

Police said Berger left the scene and later explained the details of the crash to them. She was uninjured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene, police said.
