DUI/DRUG Charges

State police reported on the following incidents:

• A 36-year-old Lehighton man who police said was passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle in a store parking lot was charged by state police at the Lehighton barracks for driving under the influence. In addition, he is charged with obstruction of justice and persistent disorderly conduct.

Police said they were called at 8:53 a.m. May 8 to the parking lot of the Country Junction store, 6565 Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, for a report of a man being passed out in a vehicle that had its engine running. Police said the man refused to provide his driver’s license and also would not get out of the vehicle.

He was removed from the vehicle by police and an evaluation was conducted and a K-9 alerted drugs on the vehicle.

• A 39-year-old Lansford man is facing drug possession charges following a traffic stop made by state police at the Belfast barracks.

Police said they stopped him for multiple violations while he was driving a 2006 Porsche at the intersection of Route 33 and Church Road in Bethlehem Township. He was in possession of marijuana.

•A 43-year-old Kunkletown woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop conducted by state police at the Lehighton barracks at 12:45 a.m. May 10.

Police said they stopped the woman for a Motor Vehicle Code violation while she was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata at the intersection of Interchange Road and Court Street in Franklin Township.

• A 42-year-old Walnutport woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after state police at the Lehighton barracks responded to a disturbance at 4:07 p.m. May 16 on Golf Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said she was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu and was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance for which she was also be charged.

• A 30-year-old Stroudsburg woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks at 10:43 a.m. May 6.

Police said they stopper her while driving a 2006 Buick at the intersection of Turkey Hill Road and Becca Lane in Hamilton Township.
