Schuylkill Co. candidates set for Nov. election

The ballots are set for Schuylkill County races in November.

Republican incumbents received complimentary votes to secure their spots on the ballots in November.

Sharyn Yackenchick, controller, received 14,168 votes. On the Democratic side, there were 461 write-in votes.

Ann Dudish, recorder of deeds, received 14,500 votes. There were 694 write-ins on the Democratic ballot.

Bridget McGowan Miller, prothonotary, had 14,153 votes on the Republican ballot. There were 439 write-ins on the Democratic side.

Republican incumbent Treasurer Linda L. Yeich secured her spot on the ballot with 14,206 complimentary votes and Democrat Joseph Post had 6,450 votes, so they will face off in November.

For clerk of courts, Democrat Jesseca Sickle had 6,840 votes and Republican Crista DiCasimirro secured the nomination with 14,215 votes.

Democrat Thomas C. McCabe and Republican incumbent Theresa Santai Gaffney also spots on the ballot with 6,958 votes and 14,181 votes, respectively.

Longtime Coroner Republican Dr. David Moylan was unopposed and garnered 14,201 complimentary votes. There were 694 write-ins on the Democratic ballot.

Republican Andrew J. Serena won on both ballots to serve in the magisterial district court in Orwigsburg. He was appointed last July by then-Governor Tom Wolf to take the place of District Judge James R. Ferrier, who retired in May 2021.

Tamaqua District Judge Stephen J. Bayer was also unopposed and won on both ballots.

Borough Council

Coaldale

The top vote-getter for one of four, 4-year seats on Coaldale council has yet to be determined, since 125 write-in votes were received from Republicans. Rounding out the ballot were Wayne Figner with 113 votes and A. Kirk Waidell with 111 votes.

Claire Remington ran unopposed on the Democratic ticket and received 88 votes. There were 77 write in votes from Democrats.

Tamaqua

For Tamaqua Borough Council, incumbent and Republican Jay Hollenbach Jr. was the top vote-getter with 534 votes. Rounding out the Republican side for the four seats with 4-year terms, were incumbents Brian Connely with 417; Ronald Bowman with 359, and Robert Amentler with 342.

The lone Democrat for council, newcomer Tina Burns, received 174 votes.

Richard M. Hadesty Jr. was the sole candidate on the Republican ticket for auditor and received 545 votes. There were no Democratic candidates.

Rush Township

George Gerhard received 449 votes to secure the Republican nod for one 6-year seat on the Rush Township board of supervisors. He edged out incumbent Jeaninne Motroni, who received 126 votes. There were no candidates on the Democratic ticket.

Ryan Township

David R. Morgan was the sole Republican candidate and received 199 votes for a 6-year term as Ryan Township supervisor. There were no candidates on the Democratic ticket.

Republican Pamela S. Smith-Gerber ran unopposed for a 6-year term as auditor and received 201 votes. There were no Democratic candidates.

Schuylkill Township

Mike Boyle ran unopposed on the Republican ticket for a 6-year term as Schuylkill Township supervisor and received 144 votes. There were no Democratic candidates.

Republican John P. Zubris received 129 votes for a 4-year term of auditor. There were no Democratic candidates.

Walker Township

Republican Craig Wagner ran unopposed and received 177 votes for a 6-year term as Walker Township supervisor. There were no Democratic candidates.

West Penn Township

Republican James E. Akins ran unopposed and received 562 votes for a 6-year term as West Penn Township supervisor. There were no candidates on the Democratic ticket.
