Walnutport Borough Council approved the following last week:

• A quote from Kistler O’Brien of $4,739 for a fire alarm upgrade.

• Advertise an ordinance for fire code fire inspector.

• Close out the escrow account for 203 S. Canal St. per engineer approval.

• Use of the Walnutport Playground Association for Picture Day, retroactive to May 7.

• Fire police to help in the Borough of Palmerton on May 13 and May 29 provided volunteers are available.

• An E-recycling and shredding event from 4-6 p.m. May 17 in the borough hall parking lot.

• Open seats still remain on the planning commission, zoning hearing board (alternate needed), UCC Appeal Board, Civil Service Commission, recreation board and vacancy board.
