Election: Pleasant Valley School District

A crowded race for five four-year terms and one two-year term on the Pleasant Valley School District board of directors is far from over after Tuesday’s primary election.

The top five vote-getters on both the Republican and Democrat tickets will advance to November.

On the Republican side, Susan Kresge led the way with 1,068 votes, followed by John Gesiskie with 797, Robert Clark with 789, Ryan O’Keefe with 728 and Matthew Walters with 720.

On the Democrat ticket, Donna Yozwiak tallied 1,014 votes, followed by Kresge with 916, Erika Engle with 766, and Peter Desanto Jr. with 675. The fifth spot was a tie between Gesiskie and Mary Elizabeth Colon, who both received 599 votes.

For the two year-seat, Yozwiak will face off against Norman Burger in November. Burger received 948 Republican votes, while Yozwiak tallied 580 votes from Democrats.

Other candidates for the four-year seats who finished outside the top five included Janet Dooner (384 Democrat votes and 685 Republican votes), Antoinette Gravell (223 Democrat votes and 583 Republican votes), Dayanara Rosa (512 Democrat votes and 224 Republican votes), and Alice Wheelis (262 Democrat votes and 435 Republican votes).
