With 50 of 51 precincts reporting, current Sheriff Daniel G. Zeigler has won his first full term. Zeigler was appointed to the position following the retirement of Sheriff Anthony Harvilla.

Zeigler said Tuesday night after results were counted that he was thankful for his supporters and felt that his innovative approach to the office was something Carbon County voters want.

The results are:

• Daniel G. Zeigler: 3,124

• Richard Steven Branche Sr.: 1,155

• Daniel J. McLean Jr.: 979

There was also 587 Democratic write-in votes, which will be counted later this week.
