Weatherly

On May 2, Weatherly Area School District partnered with St. Luke’s for a Trauma Safety Event in our Middle School cafeteria. The event was free to anyone 14 and older, and the first 110 people who registered received a free $70 “Stop the Bleed” tourniquet kit and gun safety lock. In other news, Weatherly Area High School held its annual Junior/Senior prom at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club.
CCTI

The Carbon County Fair Committee is seeking individuals for Fair Queen 2023. The applicants must be a female and at least 16 years of age, but no older than 20 as of Jun 1, 2023.
Applications are also being accepted for Carbon County Fair Junior Miss Contest. Applicants must be a female and must be 13 years of age but no older than 15 as of June 1. Applications can be picked up in the main office and the deadline for submission is June 30.
DECA students had successful learning and safe trip to Orlando Florida on April 22-26. A popular event at ICDC is pin trading (students had the opportunity to network with other peers while trading state pins).
Breydon Hand competed in the Entrepreneurship Individual event where he was given an exam and two role plays to complete.
Jalin Burns competed it the Principals of Hospitality and Tourism event (first year students). She was given an exam and one role play. She placed as a finalist, which means she was given a blue ribbon medal that gave her the opportunity to compete in one more role play against others in her category. She was the only Pennsylvania finalist for her event.
Leadership Academy: These students had two full days of guest speakers, round table discussions, networking, and breakout sessions all geared toward building leadership skills and setting future career goals. The students had the opportunity to meet peers from all over the USA. Brooklynne Winger, Hannah Devonshire and Gracie Heinzlman participated.
CCTI’s Prom is Friday at Penn’s Peak.

Panther Valley

The Panther Valley regular track season has come to an end after Thursday, as several members participated at the Jim Thorpe Invite. Many on the team competed in the league meet Tuesday and Wednesday. The baseball team currently stands undefeated with a record of 15-0, and player Chase Weaver was selected for the Times News/Lehigh Valley Health Network Male Athlete of the Week. The Panther Valley softball team stands with a record of 6-9.
River Knoblauch was chosen to represent Panther Valley at the Schuylkill County female scholar athlete banquets on April 30, along with rising freshman female athletes Destiny Wentz, Ava Alabovitz, and Hannah Shreffler.
Activities
Whether it’s end of school year activities, spring sports, AP Exams or PSSA’s, May is looking to be an eventful month for the school. Four Panther Valley teams will be competing in the annual envirothon competition held at the environmental center today. The following day, the class of 2023 will be taking their senior trip to the Pocono Valley. Later on that Friday night, the Harmony Scholars crew will be performing their show on this opening night, and again on Saturday so everyone has their chance to attend.
