Letter to the Editor: Supports O’Gurek for district magistrate

Dear Editor,

When we heard that Billy O’Gurek is a candidate for the office of magisterial district judge in Carbon County, our immediate thought was this is a great opportunity for residents of the district to put a good man in that office.

As we have known Billy for many years, and, more importantly, the kind of individual he is, we believe electing him to the district judge position would be of tremendous benefit to the citizenry. He would be fair and unbiased and would continue, as his campaign promises, the common-sense approach in his rulings.

Billy O’Gurek has been an active member of that community for many years. After graduating from King’s College, he returned home and immediately made investments in the community by his service for nearly 20 years to the town, school, church, and community.

Billy is a football coach who not only teaches young men about the game, but implores they hold high ideals of respect for others and act appropriately on and off the field. Isn’t this the kind of individual who deserves to lead such an important office?

Close to our hearts, Billy has been a longtime member of the Bo Tkach Foundation, representing the Panther Valley communities in helping to provide counseling services to young boys and girls who need them, and, lately, he has helped the foundation to assist struggling families with our contributions to area food banks.

Billy O’Gurek’s service to that area is not new. He has been a long-standing, steady, dedicated and committed contributor to the people of that district. I encourage the voters - and especially our friends in the Mahoning and East Penn districts, where we grew up - to vote for Billy O’Gurek for District Judge.

Sincerely,

Jim and Sandi Tkach
