Schrantz announces bid for re-election for district judge

Magisterial District Judge Eric M. Schrantz announces his bid for reelection for Magisterial District Court 56-3-01.

Judge Schrantz is cross-filed and running on the Democrat and Republican ballots in the May 16 primary election.

Schrantz has been serving the citizens of Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Weissport, Jamestown, Packerton, Penn Forest and Mahoning Township since 2016.

The son of Alicia and Edward Lewis and the late Carl Schrantz, he was born and raised in Jim Thorpe and attended St Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Jim Thorpe Area High School in 1994. He graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in criminal justice. He then graduated from the Allentown Police Academy in 2001. Prior to his appointment in 2016, he was a part-time police officer for Lehighton and Palmerton Borough then a full-time police officer for Jim Thorpe Borough for over 13 years.

Schrantz is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a social member of the Diligent Fire Company, Mauch Chunk Rod Gun Club, Penn Forest Club,

Lehigh Fire Company #1 and Carbon Lodge No. 242 F & AM. He is on the board of directors for the Jim Thorpe Little League and is active in coaching. He is a member of the Jim Thorpe Sports Hall of Fame and Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame. Schrantz and his wife, Kristen, have been married for over 15 years.

They have two sons, Brody, 14, and Landon, 11.

Schrantz is honored to continue to serve the communities of his district.
