A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when involved in a crash along Route 248 in Palmerton.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as the biker was traveling east and entered the exit ramp into Palmerton when he lost control, entering a grassy area off the roadway. A medical transport helicopter was called to the scene but aborted due to weather.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.

The Palmerton fire department responded, maintaining traffic control at the scene. Palmerton police are investigating the incident.
