Birding in the Bog

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced two more Birding the Bog programs.

They will take place on the morning of May 10 and May 17 at the Tannersville Cranberry Bog.

Free info session

Preventing Diabetes will be the subject of a free information session at the Loder Building in East Stroudsburg May 11 and May 18, according to the Monroe County Seniors’ Express Time.

Reservations are strongly recommended.

Sessions run from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mission dinner

The West End Missions next dinner, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will be at 4:30 p.m., May 11.

Mom, Me & Tea

The Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a special teatime event for Mother’s Day.

Girls Ministries and Girlfriends are partnering for this great event at 10 a.m., May 13.

Registration is required.

Flea market set

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will hold a spring flea market on May 20, rain date May 27.

It will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendor spaces available in the paved lot with included table. Spaces on the grass are without a table.

The church is on busy Rt. 115, Saylorsburg, next to Dollar General. Vendor spaces must be prepaid and are nonrefundable. Checks should be made payable to St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, noting flea market in the memo.

The church is seeking a substitute organist/pianist. Sight reading is a must. For additional information, call St. Peter’s Church office at 570-992-7311, leaving contact info in the message.

Senior Walk

A free event for all Monroe County Seniors, age 55 years and older, the 25th Annual Senior Fitness Walk, will take place May 24, courtesy of an invitation by the Pocono Family YMCA.

The walk will be held at the Stroudsburg High School on Main Street.

The first 75 people registering will receive a free T- shirt. Same day registrations will begin at 9 a.m.

Line up at the school’s track is at 10 a.m. to begin the walk. The length of the walk will be approximately one mile (four times around the track). Following the walk, one can return to the “Y” for light refreshments.

This event is free to all Monroe County older adults.

Donation breakfast

McMichaels UMC has announced its next donation-only breakfast. It will be hosted from 8 to 10 a.m. at the church on May 13. One may eat in or take out. A complete breakfast is served including beverages (coffee, tea, orange juice, milk).

An ongoing program at the church is the A.A. meeting held at the church every Wednesday at noon and Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for the classes and all meetings are confidential.

The church also has a Bible study every Thursday evening at 6:30 via Zoom.

Anyone interested is asked to call Pastor Ed at 610-597-1030 and provide him with one’s email address.

Ross Historical

The Ross Township Historical Society Museum will be open for visitors on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is located in the Ross Township Municipal Hall annex, 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.

Featured will be LeRoy Hawk, a longtime Ross Township resident who will have very old photos of people and places throughout the township.

This is not a presentation, but an opportunity to speak with someone with a remarkable memory and interesting reminisces of “how things used to be.”

All are welcome; there is no charge for admission.

The Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a yard sale/craft fair/vendor sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, on June 24, at the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company complex in Kresgeville.
