Smith announces write-in for Carbon County coroner

Mark Smith announces he is launching a write-in campaign on the Republican ticket for Carbon County coroner.

Smith has been a resident of Mahoning Township with his wife Missy since 2019.

Born and raised in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County, he graduated from Northwestern Lehigh High School in 1981. He is also a machine and tool technology graduate of Thaddeus Stevens in Lancaster County.

Smith is a U.S. Air Force veteran, having specialized in fire protection. He has worked most of his life in the fire/EMS service. He served as fire chief for the Germansville Goodwill Fire Company for 6 years, as assistant chief for 3 years, and also as assistant to the state police fire marshal.

He worked for the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority Fire Department and served as training coordinator. He received certification as field instructor for the PA State Fire Academy, and state and national certifications as Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and Fire Service Instructor.

A paramedic, he has worked for the City of Allentown, and ambulance services in Lehighton, Northampton Regional, Northern Valley, and the former Northwestern. He has been employed by Med-Evac since 2007 as a flight and critical care paramedic and serves as co-chair of the Safety Committee.

He pledges to serve Carbon County with pride, professionalism, compassion, and integrity.
