Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is Service of Healing and Blessing of Prayer Shawls.

The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. In addition, wear a mask if you feel uneasy about being in a group setting. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides.

Beginning in May, the monthly “Quiet Communion” will be first Friday at 11 a.m. First Saturday worship with Holy Communion begins at 4 p.m.

Sunday Church School classes for students ages 3 through grade 6 begin at 10:45 a.m. Confirmation class for 7th and 8th grade students is at the same time.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or desiring to seek membership at Trinity, please preregister by calling the church office. Pastor Moore will meet with parents for baptismal instructions on the third Sunday at 1 p.m. New member class guidelines are by appointment.

The Food Pantry continues to be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, limited to five bags or boxes. Sales receipts support the food pantry. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trinitythriftstore.

Registrations are being accepted for the 2023-24 term at Jack & Jill Preschool. Phone the preschool at 610-377-6562 for information.

Trinity’s 150th Anniversary events are winding down. Joint proclamations from local, county & state officials for Zion UCC & Trinity’s 150th anniversaries at 6 p.m. May 20 at the corner of Second and Iron streets, followed by a neighborhood “Faith Walk,” and family movie “Jonah” at 7 p.m. May 20. Anniversary festival worship at 3 p.m. June 4, followed by a catered meal. RSVP for the meal by contacting the church office by May 21. Anniversary T-shirts are available for purchase through April 30 by contacting the church office. The next planning meeting is at 12:15 p.m. April 30.

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will hold morning worship at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. Jr Church is available for children up to 6th grade. Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

At 6:30 p.m., Acts Bible Study will be held.

• Tuesday: Ladies Prayer Group, 10 a.m.; Prayer Meeting, 7 p.m.

• Thursday: Men’s Bible Study, 5 a.m. at BECC.
