Marlene Basiago announces she is seeking the Republican nomination for Summit Hill Borough Council in the primary election.
Born and raised in Summit Hill, Basiago graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1973. Following graduation, she attended Lehigh County Community College and received an associate degree in occupational therapy. She pursued her education and obtained a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Temple University in 1978 and physical therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in 1985.
She is now retired and before that she owned and operated the Helping Hand Clinic in Vermilion Professional building for 24 years and worked at various hospitals. Basiago now volunteers at the Panther Valley Public Library serving as President of the board/volunteer. At the Carbon County Area on Aging, Basiago assists disabled and senior citizens with signing up for Medicare/Open Enrollment, assists with various activities at her church and the Friends Helping Neighbors Food Pantry.
"I am running for Summit Hill Boro Council because I feel changes on council are good for growth and promoting new ideas for the community," Basiago said.
