Letter to the Editor: Supports Cirranello for Monroe sheriff

I am supporting Democrat Nick Cirranello for Monroe County sheriff. He currently holds the position of deputy sheriff in that office. He was a New York City police officer for five years. He was raised in the West End and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School. He is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a degree in philosophy. He feels “philosophy teaches one lessons that apply to everything in life.”

As a former New York City Police officer he was trained on bias policing. Unlike the current sheriff, he “walked the beat.” He has had extensive training for local municipalities, including counter terrorism and intelligence, advanced explosive detection and recognition of homemade devices. He wants to bring changes to the office to increase morale. He thinks it is necessary to implement strategies to improve the office, including more warrant teams for serious crimes, high misdemeanors and felonies. In addition many warrants are not being fully carried through. He cares deeply about our youth and wants crime prevention programs to inspire and support young people similar to the Police Athletic League. If he wins he will be on the Monroe County Prison Board which includes weekly inspections to address important issues there.

His endorsements include: Former Sheriff Todd Martin, First Assistant District Attorney Mike Mancuso who is running for District Attorney, Tarah Probst, PA House of Representatives 189th District, Teamsters 773 and the majority of the office staff.
