CCTI to compete in national DECA contest

Students from Carbon Career and Technical Institute will be traveling to Orlando, Florida for Distributive Education Clubs of America on the national level at the DECA International Career Development Conference on Saturday through April 26.

More than 20,000 high school students, teacher-advisers, business professionals and alumni will gather at the Orange County Convention Center.

DECA members demonstrate their college and career ready knowledge and skills by participating in the organization’s industry-validated Competitive Events Program, aligned with career clusters, national curriculum standards and 21st century skills in the areas of marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship.

The following students will be participating this year in the national competition:

• Jalin Burns of Palmerton will be competing in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism, and;

• Breydon Hand of Lehighton will be competing in Entrepreneurship;

Leadership Academy.

• Brooklynne Winger of Palmerton;

• Gracie Heintzelman - Panther Valley, and;

• Hannah Devonshire - Panther Valley.
