A woman from Buffalo, New York, died in a crash at 12:41 p.m. April 16 on Interstate 80 in Foster Township.

Erykah N. Ross, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police at the Hazleton barracks.

Police said the crash happened when she was driving a 2012 Dodge Durango westbound and attempted to overtake a 2011 Subaru Outback at a high rate of speed. Police said the Durango struck the Outback and left the right shoulder of the road and went airborne, traveling down an embankment and striking a tree before coming to rest.
