State police at Lehighton - DUI/drugs

State police at Lehighton released information about driving under the influence and drug cases:

• A 29-year-old Ashland woman and a 32-year-old Jim Thorpe man are facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop at 12:43 a.m. March 30 at the intersection of Canal Street and Main Road in Franklin Township.

Police said they stopped the 2007 Nissan Altima for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.

Police determined the driver, a woman, to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance. She was also found to be in possession of 146 small waxine baggies containing a suspected controlled substance.

Police said the male passenger was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

• Ashley M. Sist, 37, no address provided, is facing drug possession charges.

Police said they were transporting her to the Carbon County Prison, Nesquehoning, at 9 p.m. March 2, when they searched her and found her to be in possession of the contraband.

• A 59-year-old Jim Thorpe man is facing charges of possession of controlled substances after he was stopped at 9:06 p.m. March 21 at the intersection of Smith Road and Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said they stopped the man for Motor Vehicle Code violations while he was driving a 2014 Honda Accord and found him to be in possession of suspected heroin and fentanyl.

• Michelle Rizzi, 39, of Kunkletown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after an incident at 5:14 p.m. March 27.

Police said she had been driving a 2007 Ford Fusion and stormed into the lobby at the barracks in Towamensing Township. Police said when they attempted to speak to her, they observed signs of impairment.

She was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning.

• Police are investigating a “found property/drugs” case to which they were summoned at 9:45 p.m. April 6.

Police said they were called to a property at 207 Interchange Road, Polk Township, where it was discovered a bag containing approximately 10 pounds of suspected marijuana and used gloves and a mask were placed inside the complainant’s garbage can.

• A 29-year-old Germansville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop at 1:20 a.m. Sunday.

Police said they stopped the man for Motor Vehicle Code violations while he was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback at the intersection of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and Route 873 in Washington Township.

• A 41-year-old Slatedale woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop made at 1:42 a.m. Saturday.

Police said they stopped the woman at the intersection of routes 209 and 248 in Parryville, after which time they found her to be under the influence.

• A traffic stop made for Motor Vehicle Code violations at 4:53 p.m. Saturday resulted in a 45-year-old Allentown man being charged for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Police said they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Riverview and Lehigh drives in Lehigh Township.
