State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the driving under the influence and drug cases:

• Todd Dowling, 49, of Kunkletown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop.

Police said they stopped him at 3:26 a.m. March 25 for Title 75 violations in a 2003 Chevrolet Express at the intersection of Weir Mountain and Gilbert roads in Polk Township. Police said Dowling refused to submit to a blood draw.

• A 58-year-old Effort man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and drug possession after a traffic stop at 9:32 p.m. March 30 at the intersection of Route 115 and the Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they stopped the man for Motor Vehicle Code violations while he was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala.

• Jonathan R. Stager, 37, of Saylorsburg, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:34 p.m. March 11 on Silver Valley Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said Stager had serious injuries and was transported by the MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem.

Police said he was driving a 1998 Audi east on the Effort Neola Road and was attempting to negotiate a curve onto Silver Valley Road when it crossed into the opposing lane, went off the road and struck a tree.

The car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said Stager was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.

• Two Albrightsville men, ages 25 and 28, are facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop at 2:43 a.m. April 2 on Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they stopped the 2004 Acura for Motor Vehicle Code violations. The men were found to be in possession of narcotics.

The driver was also deemed to be under the influence of a controlled substance for which he will be additionally charged.

• Two Effort men, ages 28 and 39, are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after state police stopped a car in which they were occupants at 8:41 p.m. March 18 on Interstate 80 eastbound in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said the 2020 Toyota was stopped for Motor Vehicle Code violations and they observed multiple factors of criminal activity. The occupants were taken into custody.
