Good Friday services

Cornerstone Church, Kresgeville, will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday. Childcare will be available.

Effort UMC will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will have Tenebrae service at 9 a.m. Friday and a service in Spanish at 5 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the church will have a celebration of the Lord’s Passion.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kresgeville, will have worship services at 1 and 7 p.m.

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will have a Good Friday service, the Way of the Cross, at noon.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

Holy Saturday

The schedule for Our Lady Queen of Peace Church includes a Tenebrae service at 9 a.m.; the Blessing of the Easter baskets at 1 p.m.; the Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m.; Confessions from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.; and at 8 p.m. the Great Easter Vigil.

St. Matthew’s UCC will have children’s program and egg hunt in the grove at 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold a worship service at 5 p.m. Saturday with Holy Communion.

Breakfast served

McMichaels UMC will hold a donation-only breakfast on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.

Easter egg hunts

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, on Pilgrim Way, Brodheadsville, is hosting a community egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday. In addition to the egg hunt, there will be pictures with the Easter bunny, a bouncy house, arts and crafts and the Snack Shack will be open for food & drink.

Ross Township’s Park Committee is holding a free Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the township park on 250 Anchorage Road for children ages 1 to 10.

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown will hold its Easter Egg Hunt for the community children at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the grove.

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, invites the community’s children to participate in its reinstated Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. Children ages 2 to 10 are invited to hunt for colorful, candy-filled eggs on the lawn of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, at 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg. The start time is 10 a.m. Children should bring a basket or bag for collecting the eggs.

Easter services

Cornerstone Community Church will have Easter worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Childcare and children’s program will be available at both services.

Effort UMC will hold a Sunrise service at 7 a.m. - outside weather permitting- and indoors at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

McMichaels UMC is holding its Easter service at 9:30 a.m.

Middlecreek Christian Church is holding an 8:30 a.m. Sunrise service at the church pavilion followed by a continental breakfast. Attendees are asked to bring a hot dish to share. At 10:30 a.m., there will be an Easter service.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will have Mass at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and a Spanish Mass at 1 p.m.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will hold Easter services at 9 and 11 a.m.

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian will have a regular service at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, will hold its Easter service at 9:30 a.m.

St. Matthews UCC, Kunkletown, will hold an Easter Dawn service at 6:30 a.m. in the grove. At 8 a.m., the church will have a hot breakfast and at 9 a.m. a regular service. Both will include Holy Communion.

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg will celebrate the Easter Resurrection during its 10 a.m. service with word and music.

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion.

Zion Lutheran will hold services on Easter Sunday at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with music and Holy Communion at both services. The 8 o’clock is broadcast via Zoom and the 10:30 service is broadcast via Facebook Live for those unable to join in person.

Knit & Crochet

Zion Lutheran’s Knit & Crochet group will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Newcomers are welcome.

C’hill Supervisors

The Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at the township building on Rt. 715 Tuesday.

Eldred Committee

The meeting of the Eldred Township Parks and Recreation Committee will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the township’s Municipal Building in Kunkletown.

WPCL invitation

Families are invited to explore Western Pocono Community Library’s toys and books with the little ones during the library’s open Read & Play times on Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 3 p.m.

Beef dinner

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will serve its roast beef takeout dinner on April 15. Preorders have been accepted since March 22. Call 570-992-7311 and leave one’s name, phone number, and number of meals requested or email domehome@ptd.net with the same information.

Consignment sale

The Pocono Old Tyme Farm Equipment Association is holding its consignment sale on April 15 at the West End Fairgrounds.

Persons are invited to bring what they no longer need and turn it into cash.

Said items may be consigned April 13 and 14. The sale will be held on April 15. No items will be consigned on the day of the sale. Food vendors will be available on the premises.

Breakfast served

The Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company will be serving an all-you-can eat buffet breakfast on April 16. It will be held from 7 to 11 a.m.

Sportsmen’s Day

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is holding Sportsmen’s Day on April 16 from 12:30 to 4 p.m., with doors opening at 11 a.m. at 122 Gun Club Lane in Saylorsburg.

There is a cost, which includes refreshments. There will be any number of prizes

Polk Auxiliary sale

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company is holding a hoagie sale, as made by Thompson’s Meat Market.

Orders are due by April 18. Call Gail at 610-681-5716 to order and other related information. Order pickup is April 25 at the firehouse in Kresgeville.

McMichaels sale

The Methodist church in McMichaels is having a hoagie sale. Orders are due by April 20 at 570-992-6742.

Pickup is at the church from 11:30 a.m. to noon on April 20.

PVEN Open House

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network has announced an Open House coming on April 22. It take place between 9 and 11 a.m. at the PVEN site at 2336 Route 209, Sciota.

Turkey dinner

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is having a turkey takeout Dinner on May 6. Dinner includes turkey, filling with gravy, carrots, applesauce, roll and choice of molasses or apple cake. To order call 570-688-5381 no later than April 23. Celery seed dressing is available for sale in quart or pint. Pick up dinners on May 6 at church between 4 and 5:30 p.m.

Fireman’s festival

The four West End fire companies (Polk, Kunkletown, Blue Ridge and West End) are together hosting a West End Fireman’s Festival at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert on June 1, 2 and 3.

Touch of Home

The monthly meeting of Operation: Touch of Home will be on Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m. at the American Legion.

Conservation Camp

Monroe County Conservation District and Monroe County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs are sponsoring a residential Conservation Camp focusing on teens ages 14 through 2023 high school graduates.

It is being held from July 15 through Saturday, July 22, and is generously supported by the Kettle Creek Environmental Fund and numerous service organizations.

A highlight is an overnight canoe trip on the Delaware River.
