5 people charged in Carbon, Monroe Co. traffic stops

Five people who were stopped in separate incidents by state police at the Lehighton barracks are facing various charges.

Police said four of the stops were made for traffic violations while the fifth took place because of a report of a suspicious person.

The stops involved:

• Jessica Plumitallo, 20, of Fairfield, Connecticut, was a passenger in a 2019 Mazda stopped at 9:16 a.m. March 27 at the intersection of Interchange and Cherry Hill roads in Franklin Township. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

• A 41-year-old man was stopped at 6:40 a.m. March 15 at the intersection of Interchange Road and Homestead Lane in Towamensing Township. He is charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

• A 52-year-old man was stopped at 12:46 a.m. March 18 at the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Kunkletown Road in Ross Township. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

• A 43-year-old Saylorsburg man was stopped while driving a 2008 Jeep Laredo at 12:47 a.m. April 4 at the intersection of Ziegre and Rolling View drives in Polk Township. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

• A 31-year-old woman was stopped at 11:38 p.m. March 19 at the intersection of Interchange and Koch roads in Towamensing Township.

Police said they attempted to pull her over after receiving a suspicious person report.

Police said the woman failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. They said after a suspected wanted male passenger fled the vehicle, the woman eventually stopped. Police said she will be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
