Twenty-three blue flags are displayed at Josiah White Park in Jim Thorpe as part of recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Members of Carbon County Children and Youth placed the flags on Tuesday in recognition of the 23 children who were abused by a caregiver in 2022. Of those children, 65% were sexually abused.
Jill Geissinger, director of Children and Youth, said the department is in need of Carbon County foster parents for children who are abused or unsafe in their home.
Call the Children and Youth Office at 570-325-3644 for more information.
“If you see something, say something,” she said. “Please call ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313 to report abuse or neglect in Carbon County. This can be anonymous.”
