Franklin Township police log

The Franklin Township Police Department released details on the following incidents:

• On Feb. 23, a township business on Interchange Road reported someone entered the exterior fenced portion of the property. A second occurrence was also reported. No property was taken or damage sustained, and physical evidence was collected at the scene.

• On Feb. 24, township residents in the Long Run Road area reported a suspected criminal trespass of their home. No property was taken.

• On Feb. 26, a resident reported being the victim of a theft by deception. The victim was led to believe they were renting a residence located in the township, and subsequently transferred $1,200 to the suspect. The victim later found that the money was transferred to someone who had no ownership or right to the property.

• On March 4, a township resident reported their vehicle was not returned to them after allowing another person to utilize it. The vehicle was recovered in Palmerton borough. Suspects have been identified, and charges are pending.

• A 44-year-old man from Albrightsville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence during a traffic stop on March 11 along Interchange Road. Charges are pending toxicology results.

• On March 11, institutional vandalism was caused by a vehicle on Franklin Township property at Phifers Ice Dam. Anyone with information is requested to contact Franklin Township Police Department.

• On March 15, a township resident reported being the victim of an online fraud when they sent $500 for an employment opportunity.

• A 57-year-old man from Franklin Township has been charged with criminal mischief, after a township resident reported being the victim of criminal mischief for an incident on March 17.

• On March 19, a 45-year-old woman from Lehighton was reported missing. A search was conducted, and subsequently the investigation did reveal that the woman was avoiding rescue and intentionally misdirecting efforts by law enforcement and fire personnel. As a result, the woman has been charged with false reports to law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

• On March 19, a township business on State Road reported several items of playground equipment were removed.

• On March 23, a township resident reported an electronic bicycle valued at $2,000 to have been taken. A possible suspect has been identified.

• A 63-year-old man from Franklin Township was cited for harassment after a township resident reported being the victim of harassment for an incident on March 24.

• A 48-year-old man formerly of Franklin Township who was known to have an active felony warrant was taken into custody in the area of Fairview Street on March 27. He was taken to the Carbon County Correctional Facility.

• On March 28, a township resident reported being the victim of a theft by deception. The victim was led to believe they were renting a residence located in East Penn Township, and subsequently transferred $4,700 to the suspect. The victim later found that the money was transferred to someone who had no ownership or right to the property.

• Charges are pending against a 33-year-old man with no current address, after a township resident reported being assaultED on March 30.
