Towamensing man dies in Franklin Township crash

The identification of a man who died in a two-car crash Wednesday in Franklin Township has been released.

Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller said the man who died in the crash on Pohopoco Drive in the area of Green Street is Howard Fronheiser, 67, of Towamensing Township.

Franklin Township police Chief Jason Doll said the call to dispatch came it at 2:40 p.m., and that the incident occurred when Frohneiser’s vehicle crossed over into the other lane and hit a pickup truck head on.

Doll said the other man was not injured.

Fronheiser was flown from the scene by LifeFlight 6 to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m.

He said police left the scene at 4:42 p.m.

Doll said also assisting were the Franklin Township Fire Department, Lehighton Fire Department, Franklin Township fire police, Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks, and two bystanders who assisted in extricating the victim from the vehicle.
