Local roundup: Results from March 29

The Lehighton tennis team continued its strong start to the season with another victory on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the Pleasant Valley softball team rolled to a big victory to snap a three-game losing streak.

BOYS TENNIS

Lehighton-Notre Dame ES

Lehighton kept up its winning ways with a 5-0 victory over Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

The Indians remained unbeaten at 5-0, as the doubles’ tandem of Daniel Hoppes and Edie Cordes fought hard to pull out a 7-6, 7-5 win over the Spartans’ pair of Matt Jankowski and Romeo Dorosz.

Luke Blauch did the same with a well-played 6-2, 6-3 win over Daton Lorenzo of NDES (0-3) at No. 3 singles’ for Lehighton.

SOFTBALL

Pleasant Valley-Allen

Kailyn Getz had a big day at the plate and in the circle as Pleasant Valley cruised to a 15-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Allen.

Getz fired a one-hit shutout over five innings of play. She recorded nine strikeouts and only allowed a single free pass to the Bears (2-3).

She was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, and finished with a run scored and an RBI against the Canaries (0-5).

Brianca Pridham was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in the win, finishing with two runs scored and five RBIs.

Lydia Borger (single, home run, two runs scored, three RBIs) and Jovie Valenzuela (two singles, two runs scored, RBI) all had big games in the win.

Lourdes-Panther Valley

Lourdes rolled to a 20-2 non-conference win over Panther Valley.

Kamryn Kotzo paced the Red Knights with three singles and a double, while Maddyn McHugh added two singles and a double.

Morgan Orsulak recorded two singles for the Panthers (0-3). Mikayla Yuricheck added a double and an RBI.

BASEBALL

Pleasant Valley-Allen

Allen turned back Pleasant Valley for a 6-4 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.

Eduardo Rivas had a hit and two RBIs for the Canaries, while Trevor Golden added a double and scored a run.

Two-run home runs by Nathan Loch and Ben Mostosky helped the Bears (2-3) chip away at a six-run deficit. Jack Smale had two doubles and a run scored.
