Carbon County Court sentencings

Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic on Tuesday sentenced a man charged with his fourth incidence of driving under the influence to a state prison term.

Rickey Dale Jacoby, 57, of Northampton, was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Theodore Wilson Jr. with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer; driving under the influence, second offense; flight to avoid apprehension; criminal mischief; recklessly endangering another person; reckless driving; careless driving; traffic offenses and restrictions on alcoholic beverages on Nov. 4, 2022.

Jacoby pleaded guilty to DUI, criminal mischief and reckless driving charges.

Judge Nanovic sentenced him to serve from one to seven years in state prison on the DUI charge, with credit for the 116 days he’d already served.

The sentence will run concurrently to a DUI sentence he’s serving from Northampton County.

He also fined him $2,500 and ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee; to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

On the criminal mischief charge, Judge Nanovic ordered Jacoby to pay a $100 LiveScan fee; to serve one year on probation; and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

The sentence is to run concurrently to the DUI punishment.

On the reckless driving charge, Judge Nanovic fined him $200 and ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee.

Judge Nanovic also sentenced five others who entered guilty pleas:

Brandin Lee Brong, 29, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Summit Hill Police Officer Kodie R. Pituch with possession of a firearm prohibited, possession of a firearm with the manufacturer number altered; firearms not to be carried without a license; possession of a controlled substance; driving while his operating privileges were suspended or revoked; and not having operating rear lights on May 19, 2021.

Judge Nanovic accepted Brong’s guilty pleas to carrying a firearm without a license, and sentenced him to serve 42 to 84 months in state prison. He gave Brong credit for the 227 days he’d already served.

He also ordered him to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

John G. Glassic II, 40, of Nesquehoning, was charged by borough Police Officer Carl R. Breiner with simple assault and harassment on Aug. 10, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to harassment, and Judge Nanovic fined him $300.

The judge also ordered Glassic to pay a $100 LiveScan fee.

In a second case, Glassic was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Charles P. Inserra with simple assault and two counts of harassment on July 6, 2022.

In that case, Judge Nanovic again fined Glassic $300 and ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee on each of the two counts of harassment.

Tiffany Hittner, 40, of Palmerton, was charged by Nesquehoning Police Officer Daniel M. Long with two counts each of simple assault and harassment, and institutional vandalism on Nov. 27, 2022.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment, and Judge Nanovic fined her $300 and ordered her to pay a $100 LiveScan fee on each count.

Jonathan Murray, 23, of Lansford, was charged by borough Police Officer Shawn M. Nunemacher with burglary; criminal trespass; theft; and criminal mischief on Nov. 28, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to theft.

Judge Nanovic sentenced Murray to serve one to 18 months in the county prison and pay a $100 LiveScan fee; undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

Gabrielle Kaylee Olson, 22, of Palmerton, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Officer Amie L. Barclay with retail theft on Oct. 10, 2020.

She pleaded guilty, and Judge Nanovic fined her $300; ordered her to repay $297.94 to the victim, and pay a $100 LiveScan fee.
