Hospice benefit

Late word that there is a Monroe County Hospice House fundraiser benefit taking place at the Willowtree Inn Restaurant at 601 Ann St., Stroudsburg, today for both lunch and dinner.

Twenty percent of all food sales will be donated to the Hospice House.

Lenten services

Effort UMC will hold its Lenten study beginning at 5:45 p.m. The worship service begins at 7 p.m.

The cooperative Lenten service, which includes several West End churches will be held at Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran in Kresgeville tonight at 7. The Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope will preach.

In case of inclement weather cancellation, the host church will post a message on its answering machine and on its Facebook page.

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will hold a Lenten service tonight with the theme of the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Zion Lutheran’s Lenten service at 7 p.m. will be a healing service.

Free program

This Saturday, there is a free program at Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center.

It is a debut of artist Laurinda Faye Guarriello in the Gallery at Kettle Creek. Guarriello’s work features nature photographs of images taken in the Poconos. Her photography will be on display through April. Registration is not required.

Eldred pantry

The Eldred Township Food Pantry in Kunkletown has a coat distribution and flu shots from 9 a.m. to noon in the Community Room as well as its first Saturday food distribution this Saturday.

Brotherhood meets

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church is holding its next Brotherhood meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday in the lower level of the church.

Homeless Outreach will take place at 11 a.m.

Outreach auction

Effort UMC’s Mission Outreach Auction will be at 6 p.m. Saturday. Preview of items begins at 5 p.m.

The items available cover many areas of creative work, including those that tickle the taste buds or the collector’s whim.

Palm Sunday

• Effort UMC will have it services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with the youth re-enacting the ”Life of Jesus” at the 11 a.m. service.

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Palm Sunday Masses are 5 p.m. Saturday; 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. The Spanish Mass is at 3 p.m.

• Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will celebrate Palm Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m. with Missions and Communion during both services.

• Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kresgeville, is holding its Palm Sunday services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. The Easter egg hunt will follow the 10:30 service. One can follow the church on Facebook and Instagram.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, will hold its Palm Sunday service at 9:30 a.m.

• St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will hold its Palm Sunday service at 9 a.m.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will be celebrating the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem at 10 a.m. The church offers in-house congregational fellowship in the sanctuary and on Facebook Live via streaming, by logging onto https://www.facebook.com/petersumc.saylorsburg

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold its Palm Sunday services on Saturday, a spoken service at 5 p.m.; and Sunday, a festival worship and Holy Communion at 8, on Zoom, and 10:30 a.m., also on Facebook Live.

Block shoot

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club will hold a block shoot and meat raffle at 11 a.m. Sunday, beginning at 122 Gun Club Lane in Saylorsburg.

It is 12-gauge shotgun only.

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The West End Home Association of the American Legion in Gilbert will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Special collection

The Pleasant Valley High School Cultural Diversity Club is hosting a collection of feminine hygiene products for Women’s Resources of Monroe County in recognition of Women’s History Month.

It includes pajamas of all sizes, baby wipes, shower donations, etc. through April 21.
