Palmerton police dept. receives new police vehicle

Palmerton Police Department has a new vehicle in its fleet.

Borough police Chief Tim Kromer said that the borough has taken ownership of a 2023 Ford Interceptor.

Kromer said the vehicle was a replacement for one that was canceled in September 2022.

Graphics were applied by Jet Signs, and the vehicle was taken to Lehigh Valley Fleet Solutions for an up-fit.

“We also still have two 2023 Interceptors on order and are waiting for a production date for them,” Kromer said. “The reason we have purchased three vehicles is that one is a replacement for our Dodge Charger, which was damaged in a pursuit last year. The other two are being purchased with American Rescue Funds.”

In September, council agreed to pay $92,846 for the two vehicles, using American Rescue Funds.
