State Police at Fern Ridge

State police at Fern Ridge report the following cases.

• A theft by deception case involving a 25-year-old Albrightsville woman.

Police said they were called to a property on beaver Drive in Penn Forest Township where the woman related unknown actor(s) obtained her personal information and opened a Bank of America card and proceeded to file an application for a Good Sams Reward Visa Card through Comenity Capital Bank. Police said the woman did not sustain a loss in the scheme.

• A 29-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, is facing drug possession charges that were filed against him after a traffic stop was made at 1:38 p.m. March 10.

Police said they stopped the man while driving a 2013 GMC on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, after which time they observed factors associated with criminal activity, resulting in the man being taken into custody.

• Rachel E. Corwin, 25, of Saylorsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 12:13 p.m. March 15 on Warner Drive in Chestnuthill Township. Police said she was driving a 2020 Hyundai Kona southbound when she lost control of it due to slippery (snow) road conditions. The car went off the right side of the road and crashed head-on into a utility pole. It sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene.

• Police are investigating a criminal mischief incident that happened between 6 p.m. Feb. 25 and 10:34 a.m. Feb. 26 at the Chestnuthill Park, Route 715, in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said someone used a black marker to write on the walls in the men’s bathroom, causing about $100 in damages.

• A 17-year-old boy from Saylorsburg is facing indecent assault charges. Police said the victim is a 16-year-old girl from Brodheadsville. The incident was reported to police at 1:22 p.m. March 9. It happened along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

• Police said they arrested a 32-year-old Stroudsburg man on drug possession charges.

The arrest came when they stopped the man at 1:47 a.m. Feb. 25 at the intersection of Rt. 209 and Lake Mineola Road in Chestnuthill Township while driving a 2011 Nissan.

• Three vehicles were damaged in an incident at 9:17 p.m. March 19 along Brookmont Drive in Chestnuthill Township. No one was injured.

Police said a 16-year-old girl from Effort was driving a 2018 Toyota Highlander when she became distracted and the vehicle drifted into a parking lot, striking a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The Highlander continued northbound and struck a 2015 Lincoln, which then struck a wooden pole.

Police said the Highlander and Lincoln sustained disabling damages while the Silverado received minor damages.

The 16-year-old was uninjured, police said.

• Police are investigating the theft of a FedEx package that contained a wedding dress. Police said the victim is a 73-year-old woman from Stroudsburg.

They said they were called at 1:54 p.m. March 20 to a property on Five Springs Road, Chestnuthill Township, where the victim reported the theft.

• Gerald Krotowski, 78, of New Hope, was taken to the St. Luke’s Hospital after a crash at 1:01 p.m. March 12 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Jeep Cherokee that was southbound on Route 115 when it was struck by a 2000 Mercury driven by Dave B. Driscoll, 51, of Effort.

Police said the Jeep was towed from the scene.

• A 30-year-old Albrightsville woman was charged with harassment after police responded to a domestic dispute at 8:16 a.m. March 20 along Pawnee Tail in Penn Forest Township.

Police said a 37-year-old man from Albrightsville had minor injuries.

• A Maplewood, New Jersey man escaped serious injury when he crashed his vehicle on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township around 1:44 p.m. Feb. 23.

According to police, Avery Coreschi, 23, was traveling west near mile marker 287.8 when he lost control due to slippery conditions. His vehicle exited the right side of the road, struck a downed tree, and hit a ditch before it came to rest.

Coreschi was evaluated by Pocono Mountain Regional EMS but refused transport. The vehicle sustained disabling damage, police said.

• A pedestrian was struck while on Route 115 near the intersection of Gilbert Road at 6:57 p.m. on Feb. 23.

Police said Linda Farmer, 46, of Albrightsville, was driving when she hit Michael Unger, 49, of Effort.

Unger was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono by Lehigh Valley EMS.

West End Fire Co. and local fire police responded to the scene.

• No one was injured but two cars had to be towed following a crash on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township at 2:44 p.m. Feb. 27.

Police said a 16 year-old female from Kunkletown failed to yield for oncoming traffic and was struck by a vehicle driven by Micheal Reduzzi, Bangor. The teenager will be cited.

• Police are investigating a sexual assault involving a 9-year-old Saylorsburg girl.

Troopers said the incidents began around Jan. 1, 2021 and were reported at 5 p.m. Feb. 20.

• The driver of a vehicle that was involved in a crash at 9:43 p.m. Feb. 17 in Penn Forest Township is facing charges of driving under the influence.

Police did not identify the driver, but said the crash occurred when the person lost control of the vehicle on Stony Mountain Road. The vehicle went off the road and became stuck in a ditch.

The operator and a passenger were not injured.

• Police are investigating the theft of a trailer battery and trailer controller that was taken from a home on Williams Road in Chestnuthill Township sometime between March 1 and 2. The items are valued at $200.
