Girardville man faces firearms charges

A 48-year-old Girardville man is facing charges under the Firearms Violation Act after a motor vehicle crash that state police at the Fogelsville barracks responded to at 8:01 p.m. March 3 at the intersection of Route 309 and Mountain Road in Lynn Township.

Police said they found him to illegally be in possession of two firearms after the crash of the 2007 Volvo.

Police said the accident happened when he was traveling too fast for weather conditions and attempted to change lanes, losing control of the car as it traveled onto the shoulder and struck multiple trees.

Police said he was treated at the scene by personnel from the Cetronia EMS and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Police said he sustained “suspected minor injuries.”

Police said the car was towed from the scene.

In addition to the gun charges, the driver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
