March 24, 1995 - Susan Ward scores five runs and Becky Yacobenas hits a home run to help Tamaqua open its softball season with an 18-7 rout of Lehighton. Ward collects a pair of doubles as the Blue Raiders, coached by Maggie Samson, finish the contest with 13 hits. Yacobenas also ends with a pair of hits, one a two-run homer, and three runs scored. Winning pitcher Melanie Frantz, who allows just two hits and strikes out four, helps her own cause with a double and an RBI single. Jen Tracy contributes a two-run single to the winning effort, while Cheryl Stidham chips in with two hits.
