Tamaqua police

• Tamaqua police charged a Cressona woman with two felony counts of forgery after she falsely claimed she was the legal guardian of a teenager.

Police said that a caseworker from Schuylkill County Children and Youth was checking on a 16-year-old Tamaqua boy on Aug. 26 and Oct. 23, and said Lisa Ivey, 41, portrayed herself as the boy’s guardian. Police said the teen was calling her “mom,” and that Ivey signed a form as his guardian.

Charges were filed against Ivey after the real guardian reported to Children and Youth that she had never met with the caseworker.

• Tamaqua police charged Mariagel Alfeo, 33, of Lansford, with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Cedar Street in Tamaqua on March 14.

Police said Alfeo was also driving with a suspended license.

• Tamaqua police charged Czar Founds, 25, of Tamaqua, with stealing a donation box from Our Family Mini Market on East Broad Street on Jan. 31.

Police were called to the store and spoke to employees who said a man purchased lottery tickets, then asked the clerk to get rolling papers. As she did, the man, Founds, reached across the counter and stole the donation box belonging to the Tamaqua Animal Rescue.

Police said he immediately left the store.

When clerks noticed the theft, they contacted police and provided a description of the man. Police reviewed surveillance video and recognized him as Founds.

On March 5, police were on patrol and spotted Founds reaching for something in a gutter on East Broad Street. Officers spoke to Founds, who said he was searching for coins. Asked why he took the collection box, he told police he was “in a bad way.”

Founds told police that the box contained between $10 and $20.

He faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
