Men charged with car wash break-in

Two men have been charged with breaking into a coin machine at a car wash in Lansford.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Shawn Nunemacher of the Lansford Police Department in the case against Travis Cheslock:

The owner of the Lansford Car Wash said men broke into his car wash coin machine and attempted to break into the office area of the car wash on Feb. 19.

The coin deposit was ripped off the wall and there were pry marks on the door to the office.

Nunemacher reviewed security footage from the car wash camera and identified the driver as Cheslock, 48.

He was operating a silver Ford Explorer with painters tape on the license plate. Nunemacher recognized the vehicle as belonging to another man, whom Cheslock lives with.

In the footage, Cheslock pulls into the bay and a man gets out of the vehicle, breaking into the coin deposit box. After several minutes, Cheslock exits the vehicle and joins the man.

Several minutes later, both get back into the vehicle and pull forward, the vehicle then stops in front of the office door and the passenger exits the vehicle and approaches the office door. The man then gets back into the car and they leave.

On March 2, Nunemacher questioned Cheslock at the station.

Cheslock said the man was Jason Alan “Burner” from Weatherly. Nunemacher later identified the man as Jason Alan Boerner.

Cheslock said they could not get anything out of the coin deposit so he said Boerner tried to get into the office. He was taking too long, so Cheslock told him they needed to leave.

Cheslock faces charges of burglary; criminal mischief; and driving while operating license is suspended/revoked.

Boerner, the co-defendant, faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief.

Cheslock is free in lieu of $20,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 22 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek.
