The Lehighton Area Chamber of Commerce last night filled a vacancy on its board of directors and announced its selection of the Citizen of the Year award.

Richard Edwards, proprietor of the Big Chief Drive-In, was named to the board of directors, succeeding the Rev. Benton Zettlemoyer, who resigned several months ago due to conflicts with his pastoral duties.

The board announced it will present its Citizen of the Year Award posthumously to the late John E. Kresge of Lehighton. Kresge was well-known throughout the area for is volunteer work, primarily with the Boy Scout program.
