Drive-through supper

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is offering a free, drive-through, community supper from 5-6 p.m. today.

The menu calls for shepherd’s pie, salad, and dessert in keeping with St. Patrick’s Day.

West End sister churches’ members can help, pack, serve and clean up at that supper.

Some items needed are brown lunch bags, desserts, and sandwich bags.

C’Hill Historical

The first Chestnuthill Historical Society meeting for 2023 will be held at 6 p.m. today at the township’s Park Building in Brodheadsville.

Altar & Rosary

The Altar & Rosary group at Our Lady Queen of Peace will meet at 6 p.m. at the church.

Eldred Supervisors

The Eldred Township board of supervisors will meet Wednesday. Check the website or call 610-381-4252 to verify the meeting.

New pastor

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church has announced the arrival of a new Assistant Pastor, The Rev. Edison Gregorio Arreaga Arce.

Lenten services

Effort UMC continues its Lenten study which is held in Wesley Hall with a time of fellowship being held from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. with soup and salad. The study will begin at 5:45 p.m. and go through 6:45 p.m.

The Lenten service begins at 7 p.m.

Children & youth can participate in a Lenten program specifically geared to their age group (ages 3-18) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the Lenten season.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, has Father Bob hosting a Lenten series of dinner and a program Wednesdays, through the end of Lent.

Salem UCC, Gilbert, is hosting this week’s multi-church Lenten service at 7 p.m.

St. Peter’s UMC has announced it’s the theme of its Lenten studies which began on March 1: Who do You say I am?

The evening begins with a carry-in (potluck) supper at 6 p.m. The service begins at 7 p.m.

The 6-week study will be led by Pastor Zabdiel Khan based on a question Jesus asked of his disciples. This week the study will focus on the Good Shepherd.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting another Lenten service, next Wednesday, a healing service, at 7 p.m.

Local Lions meet

The Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow at Cherry’s Restaurant in Kresgeville.

Pet Supply drive

Girl Scout Troop 52333 is continuing its pet supply drive for the Pocono Pet Pantry in the PVI school through Friday.

St. Patrick’s Day

The American Legion, Gilbert, is hosting at St. Patrick’s Day Special from 3 to 10:30 p.m., Friday. Dinner and drink specials begin at 3 p.m.

There will be pipes and drums and live entertainment. Kilts are welcome.

Camelback Resort will host the 2023 District 14-U Lions annual convention on April 1. RSVP’s must be made by Friday

Lions and guests wanting to participate can contact their respective club secretary for more details.

Millie, a future Leader Dog, will be present and a Meals on Wheels community project is part of the day’s schedule.

Legion concert

Jeni Hacket and Domenic Tyner are slated to be featured at the Gilbert American Legion’s In-Concert series this Saturday. It will be held from 6:15 to 9 p.m. and is open to the public.

Art exhibit

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is hosting The Green Planet Hypothesis Art Exhibit and reception.

It features Darryl Speicher and students from Evergreen Community Charter School during the month of March.

There will be a reception for Darryl and the students who are participating from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday.

There is no charge for this event.

Lasagna pickup

Folks who ordered lasagna dinners from Effort UMC are reminded that pickup is from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Paint party

The Western Pocono Community Library is hosting a paint party of a spring cherry blossom sunset at 6 p.m. on March 18.

Tickets must be bought in advance. They are available at the WPCL Circulation Desk. Minimum age is 16 to participate and all supplies will be provided. Snacks and nonalcoholic beverages are welcome.
