Tobyhanna man facing charges after Chestnuthill assault

A Tobyhanna man is facing charges of burglary, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment after state police at the Fern Ridge barracks were called to a residence along Adams Drive in Chestnuthill Township at 2:18 p.m. March 8.

Police said Victor Tello, 32, was taken into custody after he fled the scene and then returned there. Police said he had a knife and is on federal probation for distribution of a controlled substance.

Police said they were dispatched to the residence for a domestic dispute in progress and discovered a burglary had taken place. A 28-year-old woman from Sciota showed police she locked the doors to the residence after asking Tello to leave.

Police said they were told Tello used physical force to enter the home through the front door, then assaulting the woman who retreated to her bedrooms. Police said Tello used physical force to break down the bedroom door but at some point the woman deployed pepper spray and fled the residence with her child.

Police said he was taken into custody afterward when he returned to the home.
