State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes:

• Ludmila R. Mead, 38, of Shavertown, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 6:05 p.m. March 3 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound when she lost control of the vehicle. It struck a guide rail, crossed both lanes of the interstate and came to a controlled stop in the right shoulder of the road.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages.

Police said Mead was cited for the crash.

• Three teens from Weatherly were uninjured in a one-vehicle mishap at 6:37 p.m. March 1 at the intersection of Mahanoy and Lafayette avenues in Rush Township.

Police said the 17-year-old boy was driving the vehicle and had two passengers, a 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy.

Police did not provide the details of the incident.

• Alexander Marcano, 21, of Pine Bush, New York, suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 3:09 p.m. Feb. 23 at the intersection of Route 309 and Haddock Road in Kline Township.

Police said he was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance.

Police said the crash occurred when a 2020 Jeep Cherokee operated by a 17-year-old boy from Hazleton, traveling south on Route 309, proceeded into the intersection without having clearance and struck a 1991 Nissan Sentra operated by Trevor R. Hammond, 21, of Walden New York. Marcano was a passenger in that vehicle.

Police said the Jeep sustained functional damages but was driven from the scene. The Sentra had disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said the teen was cited for a stop or yield sign violation.

No one was injured.
