Update: 6-12 inches snow possible

A winter storm watch is in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service says heavy snow is possible, with snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Light snow is expected to develop tonight, but then snow mixes with and changes to rain on Monday before changing back to snow Monday night. Locally higher amounts likely in higher elevations.

The latest:

Tonight: A slight chance of rain and snow before 9 p.m., then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday: Snow before 11 a.m., then rain. High near 39. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night: Rain before 10 p.m., then rain and snow between 10 p.m. and midnight, then snow after midnight. Low around 31. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of snow, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Blustery, with a northwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Breezy.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Blustery.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 58.
