SS. Peter and Paul Church

Saint Peter and Paul Parish, located at 260 N 3rd St, Lehighton, announces its schedule:

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered on the Lord’s Day at Saints Peter and Paul Parish by the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis, assisted by Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr., on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. Daily Masses are on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 8 a.m.

Lenten observances

Lenten times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and 30 minutes before Masses on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Eucharist is exposed for personal prayer every Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. The church is e particular need of adorers between 6 and 9 p.m.

The Stations of the Cross are prayed on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. during Lent.

On Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, & whenever desired, we fast by eating one full meal and two smaller meals. We abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays in Lent. All year we are at liberty to limit food, entertainments, etc.

On Fridays in Lent at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall, we will view and discuss “Into the Deep,” a series of spiritual reflections. Popcorn and pizza will be provided. praymoreretreat.org provides an excellent retreat series that one can watch on the go.

A film on St. Peter will be shown at 2 p.m. March 19. Bring your own liquids. We’ll make the popcorn and perhaps have pizza available.

Fundraisers

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society is holding a fundraiser at Fritz Lanes on Second Street in Lehighton on March 19, from noon to 2 p.m. A portion of games will go to the Society. In addition, the Society will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts, beginning on March 16 through April 10. Orders will be taken after Mass and at the Rectory.

A Lenten Fish Fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. March 31 in the hall, to eat in or take out. Haddock, fries, stewed tomatoes, cole slaw, and dessert will be served. Call the rectory for tickets.

Help available

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Allentown is accepting appointments and walk-ins at the parish convent building every Thursday from 9 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Services include: individual, marriage, and family counseling; pregnancy and parenting support (counseling, material assistance such as diapers, wipes, baby items); and supportive services (case management, material assistance, emergency rental assistance, referrals). The parish Saint Vincent de Paul Society hosts “Vincent’s Closet” by appointment in the former convent building on 242 N. 3rd Street. The society offers clothing and toiletries for those in need, and seeks donations of the same. Call the rectory for more information.
